Position Summary:
The CMA maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians, medical students, and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/Equivalent

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Basic Life Support (BLS) AND Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) w/in 90 days of start date in position or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) w/in 90 days of start date in position. Successful completion of medical terminology course within six (6) months of start date in position. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the following certification bodies: National Health Career Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health (AAH) or The American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). In addition, this certification requires: Successful completion of a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant (RMA / CMA) program OR Successful completion of Carle/Parkland Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Academy.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
  • Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
  • Administration of immunizations, PPD testing, nebulizer treatments, oral medication administration to patients age 18-150.
  • Obtain VS on patients age 18-150 to include weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, & pulse ox
  • Complete medication reconciliation of all medications in office to include over the counter medications.
  • Perform pre-visit telephone calls & complete medication reconciliation & allergy/history verification.
  • Assist with patient forms.
  • Working with an assigned provider, maintain the provider’s Team Based Care binder.
  • Stock rooms/order supplies and linens
