Position Summary:
Deliver telephone nursing care for patients of Carle Foundation Hospital and its affiliates, Health Alliance, and other contracted services. Using nursing processes to assess, evaluate, and prioritize patient calls regarding symptoms and/or other medical concerns. Provide clinically appropriate direction to manage symptoms and treatments based on the presented health concern within established guidelines and clinical judgement for urgency of intervention.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
College Diploma in Nursing
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois upon hire and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, and Washington within 1 year.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of clinical RN experience (inpatient, outpatient, or ambulatory settings)
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Uses nursing process to assess, evaluate, and manage patient symptoms, treatments, and health concerns based on urgency. Demonstrated ability to combine critical thinking, clinical judgement, and best practice guidelines to prioritize patient care needs. Confidently determines the safest care advice and disposition for patients under a large variety of situations. Provide clear communication of care recommendations and instructions on next steps, both written and verbal. Maintains professional interactions and high degree of confidentiality. Uses resources to focus on providing solution oriented care. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic PC and data entry skills. Ability to organize and prioritize patient needs and other delegated work responsibilities. Follows department specific expectations and policies. Able to coordinate care and facilitate professional relationships within and outside of the department.
