Position Summary:
The Security Officer performs a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in the safeguarding of employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and property. Maintains a secure environment at the front line of service to protect people, information, and property. Proactively identifies and resolves potentially harmful, dangerous, or unsafe situations or risks.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Driver's License upon hire and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days and Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card within 6 months and

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Clinical violent restraint application.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of duties to include, but not limited to floor patrols within the hospital as well as medical offices owned/operated by Carle Foundation Hospital.
  • Restrain patients with minimum force avoiding injuries to patients or others while taking control of the situation and implementing appropriate procedures.
  • Provide patient escorts for patient and staff safety.
  • Provide motor vehicle assistance to staff, patients, and visitors (i.e. jump start vehicles and assist with flat tires). Provide after hour visitation escorts.
  • Respond to all alarm activations and investigate cause; conduct monthly testing of alarms.
  • Upon request, collect patient valuables and secure in designated storage area.
  • Maintain lost & found items by properly documenting and storing in designated secure area.
  • Monitor cameras and perform perimeter door checks to ensure buildings are secure.
  • Perform courier runs as needed per guidance from clinical and leadership staff.
  • Advise Manager of the condition of the Eureka patrol vehicle when maintenance/repairs are needed, monitor and re-fuel as needed.
