Position Summary:
The Radiology Practitioner Assistant provides medical services to patients in collaboration with a physician including, but not limited to: collecting and documenting data, physical examinations, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering diagnostic studies and professional consultations and providing direct patient care services.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Certificate in Completion of a Radiology Practitioner Assistant Program recognized by the Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants (CBRPA).

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants (CBRPA) upon hire.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain current levels of education in emerging techniques, procedures and therapies by obtaining a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education each biennium as required by CBRP.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Planning and organizational skills. Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with others.

Essential Functions:

  • The RPA will evaluate the day's schedule of procedures with the supervising physician and determine where his/her skills will be best utilized.
  • The RPA, after demonstrating competency and under the guidance, supervision, and discretion of the supervising physician, will perform procedures including, but not limited to the following: Fluoroscopic procedures (static and dynamic), Ultrasound, Computed Tomography or Fluorscopic guided injections, Arthrograms, Myelograms, thoracentesis and paracentesis and Fistulagrams.
  • Evaluate medical images, review preliminary reports and images with a supervising physician, and prepare technical reports that will be reviewed and signed off by the supervising physician.
  • Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of patients.
  • Participate in patient management, including prescriptive powers for acquisition of additional imaging procedures, following review with the supervising physician.
  • Administer and/or order intravenous medications and contrast media, under the supervision of a physician
  • Maintain values congruent with the Behavioral Standards, as well as adhering to national, institutional and/or departmental standards, policies, and procedures regarding the standards of care for patients.
