Position Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is a skilled professional who evaluates and treats patients of all ages, with communication disorders in order to maximize communication abilities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Speech Language Pathology (SLP) License Illinois upon hire and Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP (CCC-SLP) upon hire and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Nine (9) months full-time supervised professional experience (CCC) or be under the appropriate supervision for completion.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates the impact of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive communication disorders on functional communication and related abilities (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
  • Assesses speech disorders articulation, voice, fluency, language, swallowing, and cognitive communication (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
  • Assesses the need for augmentative and alternative communication systems and devices (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
  • Assesses the need for aural Rehabilitation and related counseling services to hearing impaired individuals and their families (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
  • Develops an individualized objective-oriented treatment program for each patient (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
  • Prepares written documentation a required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, treatment plans and progress reports.
  • Communicates observations and recommendations to the interdisciplinary team, as appropriate.
  • Presents inservice programs to clinical staff or community groups, as needed.
  • Enhances professional development through participation in educational programs and inservice education.
  • Establishes a Speech Plan of Care based on evaluation findings and patient goals.
  • Completes daily documentation and charging in Therapy EMR.
  • Communicates with referring provider on patient progress and treatment recommendations.
  • Collaborates with family and the interdisciplinary team, regarding treatment strategies, including feeding/diet instruction.
  • Utilizes standardized outcome measures in a uniform manner to ensure functional performance is accurately reflected.
