Position Summary:
The Director of Development advances the mission of Carle Health - Central Illinois Foundation by increasing the level of philanthropic support from donors and prospects. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of gift prospects through identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of unrestricted and restricted gifts that may be current or planned. Additionally, manages the annual employee giving campaign and assists with events as needed. The Director of Development reports directly to the VP of the Foundation and works collaboratively with Foundation the staff with the special responsibilities for planning and implementing a program to identify, cultivate and solicit donors with the ability to make major annual gifts, special project gifts and planned gifts.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in in communication, marketing, or related field

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3-5 years of experience within healthcare with progressive responsibilities

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Work may occasionally require travel to other Carle Peoria region facilities/hospitals.
  • Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes.

Essential Functions:

Prospect Management:

  • Manages portfolio of major and annual gift prospects.
  • Solicits sponsorships for events.
  • Participates in planning and implementation of Foundation and Carle events as needed.
  • Develops and executes strategies to secure gifts for Carle-CI Foundation.
  • Collaborates with other areas of the affiliate to identify potential donors.
  • Owns donor communications and collaborates with local and system marketing to assist with communications to donors/prospects/alumni.
  • Utilizes Raiser's Edge NXT and any other donor database programs needed.
  • Participates in planning and execution of Foundation events/activities.
  • Identifies prospective planned giving prospects within the major gift prospects and works towards cultivating and securing planned gifts.
  • Leads the annual employee giving campaign.

Responsible for the development and supervision of staff:

  • Maintains Voluntary Turnover within System defined targets.
  • Maintains Employee Satisfaction within in system targets.
  • Provides support and leadership, communicating critical information to staff.
  • Updates job descriptions including accountabilities and appraisal criteria.
  • Completes performance reviews and disciplines as well as input on hiring and dismissal of staff.
  • Assists employees with personal development, action, and goals.
  • Ensures that department files contain documentation on job performance, training, and education, etc.
  • Reports employee needs and concerns to the Vice President.
  • Meets regularly with staff representatives to discuss daily operations, indicators, customer needs, problems, and changes.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings with employees.
  • Communicates regularly with staff about changes and to seek input.
