Position Summary:
The Director of Finance/Controller will apply the accounting principles and statistical analysis adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the preparation of financial statements, financial reporting, and all related workpapers for Methodist Health Services Corporation and its affiliates in a timely and accurate manner. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of the finance and supply chain staff for the region. Capital and operational budgeting report to the incumbent.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Bachelors of Science in a related field

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
10 years of progressive healthcare experience 
5 years experience at the Director level

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates, manages and reviews the preparations of financial reporting for MHSC and its subsidiaries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepares financial statements of Methodist Health Services Corporation and related organizations.* Consolidates the financial statements of all the affiliates, producing consolidated statements.
  • Creates financial reports of the Peoria region for the Board and Executive Management.
  • Serves on internal governing boards and/or finance committees as assigned by CFO.
  • Provides the financial services portions of the management agreements for joint ventures where applicable, including the preparation of financial statements.
  • Produces supporting schedules for management to use in analyzing the financial reports.* Provides supporting documentation and reviewing tax return filings prepared by Central Tax team.
  • Assists the central team in completing workpapers and providing supporting documentation for annual financial audit as necessary. Maintains compliance with Personnel policies and procedures as they related to the finance and supply chain functions.
  • Responsible for creation and oversight related of the region's operating budgeting, capital budgeting, reimbursement reporting, variance reporting and statistical reporting.
  • Completes preparation and implement annual operating budget for the region
  • Completes statistical reporting for internal and external reporting, annual surveys and special projects.
  • Analyzes financial data and reports variances to Executive Management.
  • Provides assistance to departments related to managing financial results.
  • Monitors asset allocation and investment returns of the Corporation's pension funds.* Maintains local banking relationships including deposit accounts, sweep account, and lockboxes.
  • Submits of insurance appeals and claims dispute resolution.
  •  Administers the capital budgeting process for the region
  • Assists CFO in preparation of long range operating and capital planning.
  • Maintain and enhance financial reporting methods, variance analysis, system integration, key processes, and performance in order to support organization and system-wide goals.
  • Works with administrators, physicians, department heads, contractors, consultants, committees, and the Board to evaluate existing financial reporting needs and ensure those needs are met.
  • Works directly CFO to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations of the finance and supply chain departments.
  • Uses innovation and analytical skills to create efficiencies by streamlining and automating processes.
  • Maintains a strong focus on process improvement opportunities and lead projects to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance and supply chain departments.
  • Works closely with CFO and executive team to provide insights and analytical viewpoints to assist in the decision-making process.
  • Coordinates the integration of financial systems and financial data to fulfill corporate requirements
